 Un cri des dehoniens réunis à Montréal

Nous sommes des Dehoniens (Prêtres du Sacré-Coeur de Jésus, SCJ), prêtres et laïcs, participants à la CONFÉRENCE INTERNATIONALE DES PROMOTEURS SCJ DE JUSTICE ET PAIX (du 1er au 10 octobre 2002), originaires de quatre continents.

Nous sommes contre toute guerre; en particulier celle que Bush et Blair veulent déclarer de nouveau à l'Irak. Voici nos raisons:

1. Saddam Hussein pourrait-il avoir et employer des bombes atomiques, chimiques, bactériologiques? Mais le premier à les avoir et à déclarer ouvertement être prêt à les utiliser n'est-il pas précisément Bush? Et pourquoi des pays possédant l'arme nucléaire insistent-ils, aux Nations Unies, pour que les autres pays signent un PACTE DE NON-PROLIFÉRATION? En même temps, ils refusent eux-mêmes d'indiquer la date d'un désarmement total et effectif, tel qu'exigé par les autres pays.

2. Saddam Hussein protège-t-il et encourage-t-il le terrorisme? Mais le superterrorisme n'est-il pas le nouveau modèle de défense adopté par l'OTAN? Il est ainsi décrit dans différents documents: non plus la "défense des frontières", mais bien "celle des intérêts vitaux de la nation". Et par "intérêts vitaux", on veut dire "les matières premières que l'on trouve au tiers-monde, nécessaires à l'économie des pays industrialisés." Il s'agit d'un véritable PACTE DE SCÉLÉRATS de la part des pays riches à l'égard des pays pauvres. C'est aussi la vraie raison de tant de guerres dites ethniques, religieuses ou humanitaires, alors qu'en réalité ce sont des guerres qui visent à accaparer les ressources énergétiques et vitales pour une future domination mondiale (pétrole, eau, mines, etc.).

3. S'il existait aussi des raisons honnêtes à ce conflit, la solution juste ne serait pas celle de la guerre, mais plutôt celle, institutionnelle et non-violente:

a) Solution institutionnelle: Réforme radicale de l'ONU, vraie autorité supra-nationale ou gouvernement mondial, demandé avec insistance dans les Encycliques sociales et autres documents de l'Église catholique, pour garantir justice et paix à tous les peuples, selon sa fonction statutaire;

b) Défense populaire non-violente, qui n'est pas passivité ni utopie, tel que l'ont démontré de nombreux non-violents qui ont écrit des pages historiques magnifiques.

Pour ces raisons, nous redisons fermement notre

NON À LA GUERRE

En accord avec beaucoup de manifestations populaires contre les guerres, et avec beaucoup d'instances pacifistes des différentes religions et Églises, à commencer par le Pape Jean-Paul II.

C'est pourquoi aujourd'hui, 5 octobre 2002, nous adhérons à la manifestation silencieuse qui a lieu à Montréal, devant le Monument pour la Paix, par l'Association 'Comprendre et agir pour une paix juste', de 12h00 à 13h00, unissant le jeûne au silence (propice à la prière): "Cette race de démons ne se chasse que par la prière et le jeûne" (Marc 9, 29).

We are Dehonians, (Priests of the Sacred Heart, SCJ), priests and laity, participating in an International Conference of the SCJ Promotors of Justice and Peace, coming from four continents (October 1 - 10, 2002).

We are against every war, in particular that which Bush and Blair want to incite again against Iraq. These are our motives:

1. Would not Saddam Hussein be able to have and to use atom bombs, chemical and bacterial weapons? But the first to declare openly the intention to use weapons of mass destruction, is it not Bush? And why is it that the countries that possess nuclear armaments insist in the United Nations that other countries sign an "AGREEMENT OF NON PROLIFERATION"? At the same time they refuse to set a date for disarmament of such bombs, which is insistently asked by all the other countries of the world.

2. Does Saddam Hussein promote and encourage terrorism? Is not the superterrorism the new model of defense adopted by NATO? Is it not described in various documents: no more the defense of borders but of the vital interests of nations, and these vital interests are the prime materials present in the third world which are necessaray for the economy of industrialized countries. This is a true AGREEMENT OF EVIL of the rich countries against the poor countries and the true motive of so many wars that are called ethnic, religious or humanitarian, in reality they are wars which profit from the energy resourses for future world dominance (oil, water, minerals etc).

3. If there were honest reasons for this conflict, the just solution would not be war but would be an institutional and nonviolent one:

a)Institutional Solution: A radical reform of the United Nations, a true super-national authority or world government, continually asked in the Social Encyclicals and other documents of the Catholic Church, in order to guarentee justice and peace for all people according to its function.

b) Popular Non-Violent Defense which is not passive or utopian and which has been has happened so many times and has been written magnificently in the pages of history.

For these reasons we strongly reconfirm

NO TO WAR

In accord with so many popular manifestations against wars and with so many instances of pacifism of various religions and churches and with Pope John Paul II.

It is for these reasons that today, October 5, 2002 we join in the manifestation of silence here in Montreal in front of the Monument for Peace, of the Association "To Understand and to act for a just peace", from noon to one pm, in silent prayer and fasting: This demon cannot be expelled without prayer and fasting."(Mark 9, 29)

Siamo dehoniani (Sacerdoti del Cuore di Gesù &endash; SCJ), preti e laici, partecipanti all'INCONTRO INTERNAZIONALE DEI PROMOTORI SCJ DI GIUSTIZIA E PACE, provenienti dai quattro continenti (1 &endash; 10 ottobre 2002).
Siamo contro ogni guerra; in particolare quella che Bush e Blair vogliono scatenare di nuovo contro l'Iraq. Ecco i motivi:

1. Saddam Hussein potrebbe avere ed usare le bombe atomiche, chimiche, batteriologiche? Ma il primo ad averle e a dichiarare apertamente di essere intenzionato ad usarle non é proprio Bush? E perché i paesi nucleari, che all'ONU premono perché gli altri firmino il 'PATTO DI NON PROLIFERAZIONE', si sono sempre rifiutati di indicare la data di inizio di un effettivo e totale disarmo di tali bombe, chiesto insistentemente da tutti gli altri paesi del mondo?
   
2. Saddam Hussein protegge e promuove il terrorismo? Ma non é superterrorismo il NUOVO MODELLO DI DIFESA adottato dalla NATO? Esso è così descritto nei vari documenti ad esso relativi: non più la difesa dei confini, bensì degli 'interessi vitali della nazione'; per interessi vitali sono da intendere 'le materie prime presenti nel terzo mondo necessarie alle economie dei paesi industralizzati'. Questo è un vero PATTO SCELLERATO dei paesi ricchi contro i paesi poveri ed é il vero motivo di tante guerre dette etniche o religiose o umanitarie, che in realtà sono guerre affaristiche di accaparramento delle fonti energetiche e vitali per il predominio mondiale futuro (petrolio, acqua, miniere ecc.).
   
3. Esistessero anche motivi onesti di conflitto, la soluzione giusta non sarebbe quella bellica, bensì quella istituzionale e nonviolenta:
   
4. Soluzione istituzionale = Riforma radicale dell'ONU, vera autorità sopranazionale o governo mondiale, richiesta insistentemente nelle Encicliche sociali e altri documenti della Chiesa cattolica, per garantire giustizia e pace a tutti i popoli secondo la sua funzione statutaria;
   
5. Difesa popolare nonviolenta, che non é passività e nemmeno utopia, come hanno dimostrato tanti nonviolenti che hanno scritto pagine storiche magnifiche.
   

Per tali motivi, noi ribadiamo fermamente il nostro

in sintonia con tante manifestazioni antibelliche popolari e con tante istanze pacifiste di varie religioni e chiese, a cominciare dal papa Giovanni Paolo II.

In ragione di ciò oggi 5 ottobre 2002 aderiamo all'ora di manifestazione silenziosa promossa qui a Montréal, davanti al Monumento per la Pace, dall'Associazione 'Comprendre et agir pour une paix juste', dalle ore 12.00 alle 13.00, unendo al silenzio (fatto di preghiera), il digiuno dal pranzo: 'Questa razza di demoni non si scaccia se non con la preghiera e il digiuno' (Marco 9, 29).
