What will be studied are globalization and the real causes of conflicts in the regions where the congregation operates

Montreal (Canada), October 1st  (VID) - Today beings the International Meeting of the Peace and Justice Promoters of the Congregation of Priests of the Sacred Heart (Dehonians) which shall last until October 10th.

The appointment is taking place in Montreal, Canada, following the General Conference of Recife of May 2000, and it intends to assess the application of decisions and directions taken at that meeting as regards the Congregation's commitments in favour of social justice and human promotion, all closely linked to  evangelization.

In his letter of convocation, sent in recent months, the Superior General, Father Virginio Bressanelli, pointed out that the meeting in Montreal has various issues on the agenda. There will be a deepening of awareness of the topic of globalization. along with the "study of the real causes of the present world conflicts (Colombia, Iraq, Congo, Indonesia, Balkans, etc…) and especially in those areas where the Congregation is present.

"We want to recall  - he then wrote - the importance of the "social dimension of the Dehonian charism" and that the promoters of J&P are the helpers of the Superiors in their efforts to help people live this aspect of our charism; equally, their participation in this formative event has a large impact on the life of the Congregation. If our life lacks this dimension, it is a sign that we are forgetting a quality of our Founder's personality: "social commitment."

Dehonians: it is urgent that the globalization of solidarity be launched

It is the way - according to the Justice and Peace promoters of the Institute - to respond to the needs of the poor

Montreal (Canada), October 5 (VID) - "Globalize solidarity" to respond to the new version of the ancient principle of "divide and rule". This is how Father Richard Woodbury, regional superior of Canada ,expressed himself in his keynote address which opened the deliberations of the international meeting of the Justice and Peace Promoters of the Congregation. The meeting which is taking place in Montreal, Canada, has gathered together some 30 religious and began on October 1st and will last until the 10th.

"We know how much today the principle of "divide et impera" (divide and rule) - explained Father Woodbury - "can still inspire the vampires and leeches of our society" who present themselves as "benefactors" to better "continue to isolate the world" and to "enrich themselves at the costs of the poorest and weakest, continuing to take advantage of the situations of injustice, conscious of the impunity in exploiting, the orphan, the widow, the foreigner".

According to the religious, the response to give, as consecrated men, as men of faith as Dehonians, lies in the direction of  "globalizing solidarity". "but beyond the differences which characterize the situations and the ways of intervening, we Priests of the Sacred Heart are engaged in the name of our common vocations" and the source of inspirations"is the Heart of Jesus, which Father Dehon defined as the most beautiful of all treasures".

Concretely, the religious then added that to the degree in which they are inspired by the Gospel and Jesus, religious will know how to "understand and interpret the cry of the poor of our society", the more they will be  "more able to invent responses which come from the heat and know how to touch the heart".

In the first days of deliberations, the participants made use of various techniques, discussion groups as well as to deepen the various situations of injustice in the world. The intervention of Father Giovanni Pross on the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was particularly incisive. "Every day we live an September 11th in Africa," Father Giovanni explained, referring to the thousands who die of hunger, way and sickness.

During the working group part of the deliberations, the  participants broke into linguistic groups to discuss their hopes for the conference. and a consensus emerged that the meeting should end with  declaration that formulated a common vision of the commitment of the Dehonians in the areas of poverty and injustice in the world.

Dehoniani: incontro internazionale promotori di giustizia e pace. Allo studio la globalizzazione e le cause dei conflitti nelle regioni dove opera la congregazione

Inizia oggi e dura fino al 10 ottobre, lí "Incontro internazionale dei Promotori di Giustizia e Pace" dei Sacerdoti del Sacro Cuore (Dehoniani). Líappuntamento si svolge a Montreal, in Canada, e fa seguito alla Conferenza generale di Recife del maggio 2000, ed intende verificare la maturazione delle decisioni scaturite in quella sede a proposito dellíimpegno della Congregazione a favore della giustizia sociale e della promozione umana, in stretto collegamento con líevangelizzazione. Nella lettera di convocazione, inviata nei mesi scorsi, il Superiore generale, padre Virginio Bressanelli , rileva che líincontro di Montreal ha diversi temi allíordine del giorno. Si approfondirà infatti la tematica della globalizzazione e lo studio delle "cause reali dei conflitti attuali nel mondo, soprattutto in quelle regioni dove è presente la Congregazione". "Vogliamo ricordare ñ scrisse allora - l'importanza della ëdimensione sociale del carisma dehonianoí e che i promotori di Giustizia e Pace sono gli ausiliari dei Superiori nell'animazione del vivere questo aspetto del nostro carisma; altrettanto la loro partecipazione a questo evento formativo ha un'importanza molto grande per la vita della Congregazione. Se nella nostra vita viene a mancare questa dimensione, è segno che stiamo dimenticando una caratteristica della personalità del nostro Fondatore: l'impegno nel sociale".

Dehoniani: urgente rilanciare la mondializzazione della solidarietà. E' la via - secondo i promotori di giustizia dell'Istituto - per accogliere il grido dei poveri

"Mondializzare la solidarietà" per rispondere alla nuova versione dellíantico principio "divide et impera". Così si è espresso padre Richard Woodbury, dehoniano, superiore regionale del Canada, nel messaggio inviato in apertura dei lavori dellíincontro internazionale dei Promotori di Giustizia e Pace della Congregazione. Líincontro si svolge a Montreal, in Canada, raduna circa 30 religiosi, è iniziato lí1 ottobre e dura fino al 10. Il principio del "divide et impera" ñ ha spiegato padre Woodbury ñ "sappiamo come può ancora oggi ispirare i vampiri e le sanguisughe della nostra società" i quali si presentano come "benefattori" per meglio "continuare ad isolare il mondo" ed "arricchirsi alle spalle dei più poveri e dei più deboli, continuando ad approfittarsi delle situazioni di ingiustizia, coscienti dellíimpunità nello sfruttare líorfano, la vedova, lo straniero". Secondo il religioso, la risposta da dare, come consacrati, come uomini di fede, come dehoniani, va nella direzione di "mondializzare la solidarietà". "Ma al di là delle differenze che caratterizzano le situazioni e i modi di intervento, noi Preti del sacro Cuore siamo impegnati nel nome della nostra vocazione comune" e la fonte di ispirazione "è il Cuore di Gesù, che il padre Dehon definiva il più bello di tutti i tesori". In concreto, il religioso ha poi aggiunto che nella misura in cui, ispirati al Vangelo e a Gesù, i religiosi sapranno "capire ed interpretare il grido dei poveri nella nostra società", potranno essere "più capaci di inventare delle risposte che vengano dal cuore e sappiano toccare il cuore". Nei primi giorni dei lavori, i partecipanti hanno fatto uso di varie tecniche, dai gruppi di discussione al role playing, per approfondire le diverse situazioni di ingiustizia del mondo. Di particolare impatto líintervento di padre Giovanni Pross sulla situazione nella Repubblica Democratica del Congo. "In Africa ogni giorno viviamo un 11 settembre" ha spiegato il religioso, riferendosi alle migliaia di persone che muoiono quotidianamente a causa della fame, delle guerre, delle malattie. Nel corso dei lavori di gruppo, divisi per aree linguistiche, è emersa da tutti la necessità di terminare líincontro con una dichiarazione che esprima una visione comune dellíimpegno dei Dehoniani nelle aree di povertà e di ingiustizia del mondo.

Dehoniens: rencontre internationale des promoteurs de justice et paix
A l'étude la globalisation et les causes des conflits dans les régions où travaille la congrégation


Montréal (Canada), 1er octobre (VID) – La "Rencontre internationale des Promoteurs de Justice et Paix", des Prêtres du Sacré-Cœur (Dehoniens), commence aujourd'hui et elle durera jusqu'au 10 octobre.

Le rendez-vous a lieu à Montréal, au Canada, et il fait suite à la Conférence générale de Recife du mois de mai 2000. Il entend contrôler la maturation des décisions qui ont été prises à cette époque-là en ce qui concerne l'engagement de la Congrégation en faveur de la justice sociale et de la promotion humaine, en contact étroit avec l'évangélisation.

Dans la lettre de convocation, envoyée ces derniers mois, le Supérieur général, Père Virginio Bressanelli, fait remarquer que la rencontre de Montréal servira à aborder plusieurs thèmes. En effet, on approfondira la thématique de la globalisation et l'étude des "causes réelles des conflits actuels dans le monde, surtout dans les régions où la Congrégation est présente".

"Nous voulons rappeler – a-t-on alors écrit – l'importance de la 'dimension sociale du charisme dehonien' et que les promoteurs de Justice et Paix sont les auxiliaires des Supérieurs dans l'animation de cet aspect de notre charisme. On peut affirmer également que leur participation à cette formation a une importance très grande pour la vie de la Congrégation. Si cette dimension devait manquer dans notre vie, cela signifierait que nous sommes en train d'oublier une caractéristique de la personnalité de notre Fondateur: l'engagement dans le social".

Dehoniens: il est urgent de relancer la mondialisation de la solidarité
Selon les promoteurs de justice de l'Institut, c'est la meilleure manière d'accueillir le cri des pauvres

Montréal (Canada), 5 octobre (VID) – "Mondialiser la solidarité" pour répondre à la nouvelle version de l'ancien principe "divide et impera". Ainsi s'est exprimé le père Richard Woodbury, Dehonien, supérieur régional du Canada, dans le message envoyé à l'ouverture des travaux de la rencontre internationale des Promoteurs de Justice et Paix de la Congrégation. La rencontre se tient à Montréal, au Canada, et elle regroupe environ 30 religieux. Elle a commencé le 1er octobre et elle durera jusqu'au 10.

"Nous savons comment le principe 'divide et impera' – a expliqué le père Woodbury – "peut encore aujourd'hui inspirer les vampires et les sangsues de notre société", qui se présentent comme des "bienfaiteurs" pour mieux "continuer à isoler le monde" et "à s'enrichir aux dépens des plus pauvres et des plus faibles, en continuant à profiter des situations d'injustice, conscients de leur impunité lorsqu'ils exploitent l'orphelin, la veuve et l'étranger".

Selon le religieux, la réponse à donner, en tant que consacrés, en tant qu'hommes de foi, en tant que Dehoniens, consiste à "mondialiser la solidarité". Mais au-delà des différences qui caractérisent les situations et les modalités d'intervention, nous les Prêtres du Sacré-Cœur, nous sommes engagés au nom de notre vocation commune", et la source de notre inspiration "est le Cœur de Jésus, que le père Dehon définissait comme le plus beau de tous les trésors".

Concrètement, le religieux a ajouté que dans la mesure où, inspirés par l'Évangile et par Jésus, les religieux sauront "comprendre et interpréter le cri des pauvres dans notre société", ils seront "plus capables d'inventer des réponses qui viennent du cœur et qui savent toucher le cœur".

Durant les premières journées de travaux, les participants ont utilisé différentes techniques, partant des groupes de discussion jusqu'aux jeux de rôle, pour approfondir les multiples situations d'injustice dans le monde. L'intervention du père Giovanni Pross sur la situation dans la République Démocratique du Congo a eu un impact considérable. "En Afrique, nous vivons tous les jours un 11 septembre", a expliqué le religieux, en se référant aux milliers de personnes qui meurent quotidiennement à cause de la faim, des guerres et des maladies.

Au cours des travaux de groupe, divisés par zones linguistiques, tous ont exprimé la nécessité de clôturer la rencontre par une déclaration qui affirme clairement une vision commune de l'engagement des Dehoniens dans les zones de pauvreté et d'injustice dans le monde.
