The experiences of the Dehonians and Marianists illustrated during the special day promoted by the USG
Rome (Italy), November 25 (VID) For an Institute, restructuring should mark a journey of growth, sending a positive and not a negative message. This is the consideration which emerged from the various reports and address during the "Day on Restructuring", organized on Saturday in Rome by the Union of Superiors General (USG) which was attended by more than a hundred Superiors.
During the meeting, from the morning to the afternoon, and open to the participation of women religious, different concrete experiences of restructuring which had already been concluded or which were underway, were introduced, and the problems which arose and the ways to solve them were illustrated.
Father Virginio Bressanelli, the SCJ Superior General, stressed that the choice of his Congregation to review and to sacrifice some works , was brought about by the "awareness of the aging" but it was in the end a matter of a "choice of life" aimed at "heading the Congregation toward new walks of growth and commitment, in accordance with its own charism."
Concretely speaking, for the Dehonians it involved reassessing the system of unity, divided into Provinces, Regions and Districts, with different degrees of autonomy and the merger of the Canadian province as well as of the two preexisting ones of France and Luxemburg into one sole province. Among the thorniest problems, was the awareness that "the management of the most ancient realities is more difficult and delicate than the configuration of the new ones."
Nevertheless the "administrative, juridical or governmental restructuring of a congregational organization is not everything nor is itís a goal in and of itself. We need to try to obtain the revitalisation of the Order" and "the restructuring, mobilizing essential values becomes a passage of life rather than a premature death."
Father David Fleming, the Superior General the Marianists, stressed in his intervention that the "link between revitalization and restructuring" needs to be "perceived" and especially that "subsidiarity and dialogue" needs to be viewed in the correct light because restructuring should be the choice of those people who are involved in it rather than a decision by the General Administration.
The Congregation in recent years set in motion the important unification of the American provinces, which has result in a single Province with 600 religious. The choice was motivated by the necessity of kindling "a common sense of the mission in response to the needs of the American culture, in order to facilitate the exchange of personnel" and to cut out excessive expenses."
In Europe the Marianists have unified the Provinces of Switzerland and Austria-Germany and a certain restructuring of the various Provinces in Asia and Africa is in an advanced phase, on the basis of a "memorandum" which was approved of by the same Congregation which clarifies the terms and roles of every entity: Provinces, independent Regions, dependent Regions, sectors.
"In conclusion", Father Fleming said,"we have discovered the link between restructuring and revitalisation. Restructuring alone does not lead to revitalisation. But when there is an effort to develop new life, new structures evolve and this process brings new life."

Roma (Italia), 25 de noviembre (VID) &endash; Para un Instituto, la reestructuración ha de trazar un camino de crecimiento, mandando un mensaje positivo y no negativo. Es la consideración surgida de diversas exposiciones hechas en la "Jornada sobre la reestructuración", organizada el sábado en Roma por la Unión de los Superiores Generales (USG) y en la que ha participado más de un centenar de Superiores.
En el curso del encuentro, que se extendió desde la mañana hasta la tarde y estuvo abierto a la participación de las religiosas, se han presentado diversas experiencias concretas de reestructuraciones ya terminadas o todavía en curso, con la indicación de los problemas afrontados y las formas de resolverlos.
El p. Virginio Bressanelli, Superior general SCJ, ha subrayado que la decisión de su Congregación de revisar y sacrificar algunas obras ha estado determinada por la "toma de conciencia del envejecimiento", pero en el fondo se ha tratado de una "opción de vida" encaminada a "impulsar la Congregación hacia caminos nuevos de crecimiento y de compromiso conformes con el carisma propio".
Para los Dehonianos se ha tratado en concreto de revisar el sistema de unidades, subdividiéndolas en Provincias, Regiones y Distritos, con diversos grados de autonomía, y de fusionar en una única provincia la canadiense y las provincias de Francia y Luxemburgo. Entre los problemas de mayor peso cabe señalar la conciencia de que "es más difícil y delicada la gestión de las realidades más antiguas que la configuración de las nuevas".
Sin embargo, "la reestructuración administrativa, jurídica o de gobierno de un organismo congregacional no es todo ni constituye un fin en sí mismo. Es preciso buscar la revitalización de la Orden", para lo cual "la reestructuración, movilizando los valores esenciales, es una etapa de vida más que una muerte anticipada".
También el p. David Fleming, Superior general de los Marianistas, ha subrayado en su exposición que al programar una reestructuración es preciso "percibir" el "nexo entre revitalización y reestructuración" y, sobre todo, dar el debido lugar a "la subsidiariedad y al diálogo" porque "la reestructuración debe ser una opción de los interesados más que una decisión de la Administración General.
En los últimos años la Congregación ha llevado a cabo la importante unificación de las provincias estadounidenses, que ha dado lugar a una única Provincia con 600 religiosos, opción motivada por la necesidad de estimular "una conciencia común acerca de la misión ante las necesidades de la cultura americana, facilitar el intercambio de personal" y reducir los gastos.
En Europa los marianistas han unificado las Provincias de Suiza y de Austria-Alemania, y se encuentra en una fase avanzada una cierta reestructuración de las diversas Provincias de Asia y Africa, sobre la base de un "memorándum" aprobado por la misma Congregación que aclara los términos y las funciones de cada entidad: Provincias, Regiones independientes, Regiones dependientes, sectores).
"En conclusión &endash; ha señalado el p. Fleming &endash; hemos descubierto el nexo entre reestructuración y revitalización. Por sí sola la reestructuración no comporta la revitalización. Pero cuando los esfuerzos se orientan a promover una nueva vida, las nuevas estructuras van surgiendo y el proceso aporta una vida nueva"

Rome (Italie), 25 novembre (VID) – Pour un Institut, la restructuration doit indiquer un processus de croissance, en transmettant un message positif et non négatif. Telle est la considération qui s'est dégagée de différents exposés et interventions lors de la "Journée sur la restructuration", organisée samedi à Rome par l'Union des Supérieurs Généraux (USG), et à laquelle plus de cent Supérieurs ont participé.
Au cours de la rencontre, ouverte également à la participation des religieuses, on a présenté, durant la matinée et dans l'après-midi, plusieurs expériences concrètes de restructuration déjà réalisées ou en cours de réalisation, en énumérant les problèmes affrontés et les modalités pour les résoudre.
Le père Viriginio Bressanelli, Supérieur général SCJ, a souligné que le choix de sa Congrégation de réexaminer et de sacrifier certaines œuvres a été déterminé par la "conscience du vieillissement", mais il s'est agi au fond d'un "choix de vie" pour "encourager la Congrégation a suivre des processus de croissance et d'engagement nouveaux, en harmonie avec son propre charisme".
Dans la pratique, selon les Dehoniens il s'est agi de réexaminer le système d'unité, en se divisant en Provinces, Régions et Districts, caractérisés par différents niveaux d'autonomie et par la fusion en une province unique de la province canadienne et deux provinces préexistantes de la France et du Luxembourg. Parmi les problèmes les plus importants, il y a lieu de mentionner la prise de conscience que "la gestion des structures les plus anciennes est plus difficile et délicate par rapport à la configuration des nouvelles structures.
Toutefois, "la restructuration administrative, juridique ou du gouvernement d'un organisme congrégationnel n'est pas tout et elle n'est point une fin en soi. Il faut chercher la revitalisation de l'Ordre", et "la restructuration, qui comporte une mobilisation des valeurs essentielles, devient une étape de vie plutôt qu'une mort anticipée".
Le père David Fleming, Supérieur général des Marianistes, souligne lui aussi lors de son intervention que lorsqu'on programme une restructuration il faut "percevoir" le "lien qui existe entre revitalisation et restructuration", et il faut surtout savoir mettre en lumière "la subsidiarité et le dialogue", parce que "la restructuration doit être choisie par ceux qui en sont convaincus au lieu d'être une décision de l'Administration Générale.
La Congrégation a lancé ces dernières années l'important processus d'unification des provinces américaines, qui a donné naissance à une Province unique regroupant 600 religieux. Ce choix a été motivé par la nécessité de promouvoir "un sentiment commun de la mission en réponse aux exigences de la culture américaine, de faciliter l'échange de personnel" et de réduire les dépenses excessives.
En Europe, les Marianistes ont unifié la Province de Suisse et d'Autriche-Allemagne, et une certaine restructuration des différents Provinces en Asie et en Afrique se trouve déjà à une phase avancée. Tout cela a été réalisé en se basant sur un "mémorandum" adopté par la Congrégation elle-même, qui précise les conditions que chaque structure doit satisfaire ainsi que le rôle qu'elle doit jouer: Province, Région indépendante, Région dépendante, secteur.
"En conclusion – a fait remarqué le père Fleming
– nous avons découvert le lien entre restructuration et revitalisation. La
restructuration à elle seule n'implique point la revitalisation. Mais lorsqu'on
accomplit un effort pour développer une vie nouvelle, les nouvelles structures
évoluent et ce processus conduit à cette vie nouvelle".
