What's New

Paul McGuire (US) was kind enough to send us a copy of a presentation he gave to Sacred Heart Southern Missions at Walls Mississippi on August 11, 2000. The article is in English and is titled: Fr. Dehon the Educator. We will add this article to the growing elenchus of background articles for the July 2000 Dehon Education Conference to be held in Salamanca, Spain.

In this week's Meet and SCJ we present Aurélio Mariotto, BM who was born on March 8, 1944, in Taubaté. He writes that he is a 'delayed' vocation having entered the novitiate in 1974 at the age of 30.

What's Happening

Off to SCJ Sacred Sites

The Generalate is a lot quieter this week as the 17 participants in the Portuguese Language Ongoing SCJ Formation Program and their director, Osnildo Klann (BM), departed for a bus tour of France and Belgium to visit important sites in the life of Fr. Dehon. The trip will take them to La Capelle, San Quentin, etc.

Carlos Frick Interviews Allegra Troiano ESL Instructor

Allegra Troiano is one of the full-time instructors in the ESL Program (English as a Second Language) at Sacred Heart Monastery/Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, Wisconsin.

In addition, Allegra has had the opportunity to teach English in several SCJ Provinces. These opportunities have given her a rich experience of the Congregation in several places around the world.

What follows is an interview Carlos did with Allegra in September (CF. Interview with Allegra Troiano ).

Letters from the First Novices

In the twentieth in our series from CORRESPONDENCE OF THE FIRST NOVICES BEFORE THE "CONSUMMATUM EST 1878-1883" by Egidio Driedonkx, we present the third letter in Correspondence Received. It was sent in by Fr. Paris to the novice Falleur.

"I am so grateful for the letter which you sent to me, especially for the promises and good wishes that you make for me. I do not want to stay behind in generosity, and I promise to ask constantly for you the grace towards Our Lord which you have sought for me.
