What's New

The SCJ Community Rome V (IM) has a new telephone number: 06.660.487, please take note of it.

The Vocation page features John Kelly (BH) this week in its Meet an SCJ Section. John is currently a member of the pastoral staff (curate) of St. John Vianney Parish, Dublin.

The Curia welcomes the return of Bernard Rosinski (US) who will be working on the congregational data base for the next several months. While serving as coordinator of curial services he helped develop an updated congregational data base using the program Access, a popular data base program familiar to many.

Dehon Photo of the Week

In the year 1900, particularly in Rome, a Holy Year was celebrated, promulgated by Pope Leo XIII. What did Fr. Dehon think of it? In December 1899 he published in his periodical 'The Reign of the Heart of Jesus in Souls and in Society' an article about the Jubilee.... We welcome back Stefan Tertünte who offers Fr. Dehon's reflections on the Jubilee Year of 1900 (Cf. Anno Santo).

Dehon in Canada and America

This week Fr. Dehon visits two of the first scjs sent to North America Fathers Gaborit and Carpentier, French scjs working on the wind swept plains of central Canada. Unfortunately their work would not ultimately bear fruit for the congregation. The task of developing the congregation would be taken up later by the German Province in the United States and the Dutch Province in English and French Speaking Canada (Cf. Wainwright).
