Dehonian Year Week I

Preparation for the 125th anniversary of the congregation begins

What's Happening?

Finland

On February 11th we held our monthly SCJ meeting. This time it took place in Turku. Our special guest was Fr. Ryszrd Mis from the general council, who worked for many years in Finland. During the meeting one part of the program was a visit to the local Synagogue. It offered us the opportunity to speak about the religious life of Jews in Finland. The rest of the time we spent in dicussing our work and in prayer together.

Greetings to all!

Dehonian Year celebrated

Fr. Richard MacDonald welcomes a filled chapel to the gathering at Sacred Heart School of Theology commemorating the beginning of the Dehonian Year. Fr. Wayne Jenkins is on the left and Fr. Andrew Malek is on the right.
Sacred Heart School of Theology hosted a prayer service and luncheon on February 14 commemorating the start of the Dehonian Year. The chapel was filled with SCJs and co-workers from the Hales Corners - Milwaukee area.

The service included a reading from a letter Fr. Dehon had written about his experience in Loretto, the Litany of Loretto, a Scripture reading and finally, a blessing of SCJs by the assembly. Fr. Otto Bucher, OFMCap., a member of the SHST faculty for many years, led the blessing. He was quick to note that not only have the Capuchins collaborated with the SCJs for many years, but that it is his religious community which cares for the Marian Shrine at Loretto. "I am glad to be a part of this," he said.
