New bishop for new prelature
The Vatican Press Office announced that Pope John Paul II has erected the territorial prelature of Paranatinga, Brazil, with territory taken from the dioceses of Sinop, Rondonopolis and Barra do Garcas, making it a suffragan of the metropolitan Church of Cuiaba. He appointed as its first bishop Fr. Vital Chitolina, scj (BM), pastor of "Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima" in Lucas do Rio Verde. The bishop-elect was born in Tuparendi, Brazil, in 1954, made his perpetual profession in 1984, and was ordained a priest that same year. -- dated 12/23/97(CF LETTERS)

Some kind words from Hudson, Wisconsin

An article on the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Web Site caught my attention several weeks ago. It reported on the Carmaelite Sisters in Hudson, Wisconsin's use of the web (http://www.pressenter.com/~carmelit/). After visiting the site I wrote a note to Sister Angelo below are some excerpts from the response we received.

Thanks for the kind words about the webpage and the article in the Milwaukee
Journal. The man who did the interview just called over the phone and we
did it that way. We'd been featured on the July 4th weekend in the St. Paul
Pioneer Press and I think he must have seen that article. That was a 3 day
interview, and the photographer took 650 pictures of just the 6 of us and
our dog! It was a pitiful day, we were so happy when he left, and they used
about 5 pictures. Now, we here the Milwaukee article hit the AP wire, so I
don't know what's next.

I visited your page and you've got a great start! Good for you. We
wouldn't have been able to do it either without God's sending a friend who
is really into computers. I happened to just be 'looking' one day and saw
'Windy's backgrounds'--there is so much free background and html help on the
net...if you ever need some URL's just let me know and I'll copy them for you.

The men in our Order really got interested when one of the brothers, a
computer programmer, put the entire "Carmelite Rule" on the Net and it
started to get them some replies...perhaps you could do that with your
Rule...he, (Brother Charlie at 'Carmelnet') really got the ball rolling, so
you must be the one elected in your Order...blessings on your efforts!

You might want to look at: http://www.mispress.com/catholicism/chapter02.html
from the new 'Catholicism on the Web' which Brother Charlie has on his
Carmelnet page...they have a lot of Orders pages. etc.
If it gets to be too much maintaining of the page, Charlie said there is a
place called Ecclesia Web Service at: http://www.usbusiness.com/ which helps you out.
