What's New?

There are three new letters posted to the Letters & Documents page this week. First is Fr. General's letter for the Feast of the Sacred Heart (Cf. Sacred Heart). This year's theme is: What are Prophetic Communities? Also posted is a letter to provincial and regional superiors from Zolile Mpambani concerning the planned ongoing formation programs in Rome starting in 1999 (Cf. Ongoing Formation Meetings). Finally, there is a letter from Wardjito concerning his sectors, i.e., Spirituality and Apostolate and the Dehonian Family.

What's Happening?

Starting on Monday June 8th the US Province will hold their election assembly at Sacred Heart Monastery/Sacred Heart School of Theology.

The North American SCJ Vocation Directors recently met in Chicago. The three provinces agreed to establish a North American SCJ Web Page. The group also toured the national offices of the National Coalition for Church Vocations. This organization publishes vocation materials in English and to some degree in Spanish as well.

NCCV has published a Vocations Resource Catalogue, and while the materials are aimed at the US Catholic market, some of their materials may be of interest to the English and/or Spanish speaking scj regions. Catalogues can be requested by either emailing or writing to Jack Kurps at:

The General Finance Commission held its spring meeting in Madrid. Topics on the agenda included reviewing request for support from FAG (General Aid Fund) for this year, as well as a review of the 1997 General Financial Statement.

After six years of service Bernard Rosinski (US) returned to the United States. He will be a member of the Sacred Heart Monastery community. In addition to doing research on behalf of the US Province he will also be responsible for maintaining the congregational data base as well as doing research at the behest of the general administration.

Due to a possible strike by Air France pilots Fr. General and Zolile Mpambani left several days early to begin their visitation to the South African Province. They will remain in SA for several weeks before traveling to Mozambique.

Carlos Alberto da Costa Silva (CU) from the general administration was present at the recently completed (June 2, 1998) election assembly conducted by the North Brazil Province. The following were chosen subject to confirmation by the general administration.
