Planning for Toronto 2002

SCJ representatives from the British-Irish Province, Anglo and French Canada, as well as the United States, met in Chicago, May 16, to discuss preparations for the next World Youth Day. It will be held in Toronto, July 18-28, 2002.

The group has two tasks: 1) preparing and staffing a vocational display during the gathering and, 2) organizing activities, housing and transportation for youth from SCJ parishes and organizations who will be traveling to World Youth Day.

"Vocations" will be one of the primary themes of the gathering, so the group discussed how the congregation should present itself in a display. The use of multi-media presentations, "give-aways", and opportunities for one-on-one interaction with SCJs was discussed. Emphasis in design of the display will be on bright colors and large photos. It was noted that the Priests of the Sacred Heart will be one of many religious communities in the exhibition hall, so the display will have to be eye-catching.

HELP!

Organizers ask SCJs to help them with the exhibit by sending photos from the last Youth Day gathering (Rome, 2000). If you can lend a few pictures, please send them to Fr. Michael Burke, P.O. Box 206, Hales Corners, WI 53130-0206. Or, you can e-mail them as attachments to mgorski@execpc.com. Please be generous in sharing your photos &endash; they will be an important part of the exhibit.

An invitation

Of course, the most important part of the World Youth Day Gathering is THE YOUTH. Organizers encourage SCJs from around the world to invite the youth of their parishes to come to Toronto in 2002. Many activities will be planned for these SCJ youth before the main World Youth Day celebrations begin. The primary days for SCJ activities will be Sunday, July 21 through Tuesday, July 23. The SCJ group will then join in the primary activities of World Youth Day.

Arrangements are being made for housing and transportation in Canada. Participants will be expected to pay their own transportation costs to Canada. Some parishes have already begun fund-raising events to help the young people pay for their trips.

Arrangements can be made for participants who wish to arrive before the organized activities, or who want to stay later. There will be some tourist activities planned after World Youth Day, such as a trip to Niagara Falls.

Plannig for Toronto 2002

Rappresentanti SCJ dalla Provincia britannico-irlandese, del Canada anglo-francese, come pure degli Stati Uniti, si sono incontrati a Chicago, il 16maggio discutere i preparativi della prossima Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù che si terrà a Toronto, dal 18 al 28 luglio 2002.

Il gruppo ha due compiti:

1) preparare e presentare una mostra vocazionale durante l'incontro e,

2) organizzare le attività, la sistemazione logistica e il trasporto dei giovani delle parrocchie SCJ e delle organizzazioni che parteciperanno alla Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù.

Uno dei temi principali dell'Incontro sarà "Le Vocazioni " e così il gruppo ha discusso come la congregazione dovrebbe presentarsi attraverso una mostra.

Sono stati discussi i vari aspetti: uso multi-media, possibilità di interazione con SCJ. La mostra dovrà colpire per i colori brillanti e le ampie foto.

Il tema dei Sacerdoti del S. Cuore sarà in primo piano nella sala di esposizione in modo da catturare subito l'attenzione.

Gli Organizzatori SCJ di chiedono di aiutarli nella preparazione della mostra inviando fotografie dall'ultima Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù. (Roma, 2000).

Un invito

Chiaramente, la più importante parte della Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù è raccogliere La Gioventù. Gli Organizzatori incoraggiano tutto il mondo SCJ ad invitare giovani delle loro parrocchie a Toronto nel 2002. Molte attività saranno progettate per questa gioventù SCJ prima che le celebrazioni della Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù comincino. I giorni più importanti per le attività SCJ saranno da domenica,21 luglio fino a martedì 23 luglio. Il gruppo SCJ si unirà poi alle celebrazioni della Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù.

Si sono studiate sistemazioni logistiche per accogliere i giovani e per il trasporto in Canada.

I partecipanti dovranno pagare essi stessi il viaggio Canada. Alcune parrocchie hanno già cominciato a raccogliere fondi per aiutare i giovani che non possono pagare i loro viaggi.

Si prevedono sistemazioni per coloro che desiderano venire prima delle attività organizzate, o che vogliono prolungare la permanenza. Ci saranno delle attività turistiche dopo la Giornata Mondiale della Gioventù come un viaggio alle cascate del Niagara.

En préparation de Toronto 2002

Des représentants dehoniens de la Province de Grande-Bretagne/Irlande, des Canada français et anglais ainsi que  des États-Unis se sont réunis à Chicago, le 16 mai 2001, afin de planifier la participation dehonienne aux Journées Mondiales de la Jeunesse qui auront lieu du 18 au 28 juillet 2002 à Toronto.

Deux tâches principales attendaient le groupe: 1) préparer une exposition à caractère vocationnel qui aura lieu pendant l'événement et 2) organiser les activités, l'hébergement et le transport des jeunes de nos paroisses et institutions qui participeront aux JMJ.

L'un des thèmes principaux de l'événement sera celui des "vocations". C'est pourquoi le groupe s'est attardé à la présentation que l'on veut donner de la Congrégation, ainsi que des divers moyens à utiliser: présentations multi-médias, objets à distribuer, possibilités de rencontres individuelles avec un dehonien. L'accent, du côté visuel, sera mis sur l'utilisation de couleurs brillantes et de photographies agrandies. Les Prêtres du Sacré-Coeur ne seront qu'une des nombreuses communautés religieuses présentes dans le hall d'exposition, il faut donc veiller à capter l'attention des jeunes.

AIDE DEMANDÉE

Pour réaliser l'exposition, les organisateurs demandent l'aide des confrères dehoniens qui pourraient fournir des photographies prises durant les dernières Journées Mondiales de la Jeunesse (Rome 2000). Si vous pouvez prêter quelques photographies, vous pouvez les envoyer au P. Michael Burke, SCJ, P.O. Box 206, Hales Corners, WI 53130-0206, U.S.A., ou les envoyer par courriel à mgorski@execpc.com. Ils espèrent que les confrères répondront généreusement à cette requête, car ces photographies devraient occuper une large place dans l'exposition.

Une invitation

Bien sûr, la partie la plus importante des JMJ, ce sont LES JEUNES eux-mêmes! Les organisateurs encouragent les dehoniens de toutes les Provinces, Régions et Districts à inviter les jeunes de leurs paroisses et institutions à venir à Toronto en 2002. Plusieurs activités seront offertes à ces "jeunes dehoniens" avant que les célébrations officielles ne débutent. On prévoit que les activités dehoniennes auront lieu du dimanche 21 juillet au mardi 23, alors que commenceront les activités principales des JMJ.
On s'affaire à se préparer pour le logement et le transport au Canada. Les frais de transport du pays d'origine vers le Canada sont aux frais des participants. Quelques paroisses ont déjà commencer des activités de levée de fonds pour aider les jeunes à payer le voyage.

Il sera aussi possible aux participants qui le désirent d'arriver avant le début des activités, ou de rester plus longtemps. Quelques activités touristiques seront prévues, comme une visite aux Chutes du Niagara.
