First Renewal

Third Renewal We received the following from Bernard Rosinski (US) who recently visited José Barios Braga (LU) who is dying of cancer.

To all scj readers (and readers who are friends of the scjs):

Fr. José Bairos Braga of the Portuguese province is currently residing in E. Providence RI (USA) where he had been receiving medical assistance. He is gravely afflicted with cancer of the throat which has passed to his liver. He has ended chemotherapy treatment of his case. He is calm and serene.

Being only 54 with a missionary vocation and experience (Madagascar), he is precisely the kind of man with an illness whose cure by miracle could greatly advance the cause of Fr. Dehon.

Let us all unite in prayer to God that through the intercession of Fr. Dehon Fr. José Bairos Braga may be cured by miracle. May God may be glorified and may his servant, Fr. Leo John Dehon, obtain the kind of testimony necessary for the Church to beatify him.

Prayer Seeking the
Intercession of
Venerable Leo John Dehon
Heavenly Father,
after the example of Leo John Dehon,
grant us the grace to live
lives of love and reparation.
Help us to live in such a way
that Your reign of love will be
firmly established in our hearts.
Father, we ask You to hear
our special prayer today
(here mention your requests)
through the intercession of Your
servant, Leo John Dehon.
Grant that we might be Your faithful
servants and that we might enjoy
everlasting life with You
forever and ever.
Amen.

The Roman Year Begins

As usual October is an important month for the Rome I & II SCJ Communities. With the start of the school year there are 11 members of the General Curia community and 38 in the International College (Rome II). Included in both groups are 14 newcomers, 11 of whom are pictured below. The year the community hopes to emphasize the importance of community life, mutual service and prayer. Being an 'international group' we note our differences, but stress our unity in the one heart of Christ.
